How to Add an Image Slideshow in OBS Studio (The No-BS Guide)

Create a Killer Image Slideshow in OBS Studio

– Step-by-Step Tutorial

Wanna flex a series of pics "revolving" on your stream? Maybe show off your work, drop some memes, or just spice things up visually? Cool. OBS has a built-in tool for that—and it’s dead simple once you know where to click.

Here’s how to get your slideshow poppin:

⚙️Step 1: Add the Slideshow Source

  • Head over to your Sources panel and hit that “+” button.

  • Select Image Slide Show (yep, that’s literally what it’s called).

  • Give it a name that makes sense and click OK.

⚙️ Step 2: Set It Up Your Way

Slide Mode

  • Automatic: Images flip on their own like a self-driving photo gallery.

  • Manual: You control the pace with hotkeys. Great for storytelling or step-by-step demos.

Transition Style

  • Pick a vibe: Fade (smooth) or Cut (instant switch).

  • Adjust Transition Speed to go fast or chill.

Timing

  • Set how long each image hangs out on screen in auto mode.

  • Want the slideshow to loop forever? Hit that Loop checkbox.

Size & Ratio

  • Need to crop, stretch, or resize? Tweak the Bounding Box settings until it fits your layout.

⚙️ Step 3: Add Your Images

  • Click that “+” under Files” to load up your pics.

    • Add them one by one, OR drop in an entire folder if you’re feeling organized.

  • Using a folder? Make sure the files are named in the right order (OBS doesn’t let you drag to rearrange later).

Manage Your List

  • Trash can: Delete an image.

  • Gear icon: Replace it.

  • Up/Down arrows: Reorder the list (only works for individual file adds, not folders).

⚙️ Step 4 (Optional): Set Up Hotkeys for Manual Mode

If you picked Manual mode:

  • Go to Settings → Hotkeys.

  • Scroll to your slideshow source.

  • Set keys for Next Slide and Previous Slide so you can flip through like a boss.

⚙️ Step 5 (Optional): Add Some Flair

Want it to pop? Add:

  • A background layer (solid color or image).

  • Borders, overlays, text—whatever gives it that professional polish.

Layer it all in OBS like you’re building a sandwich: background → slideshow → overlays.

⚙️Final Touches

  • Hit OK to lock it all in.

  • Resize or move your slideshow on the canvas to fit your scene.

  • Boom—you’re done.

Now your OBS scene just leveled up from “meh” to slideshow magic. Whether you're presenting, storytelling, or just vibing—this setup’s gonna make you look slick.

Want to take it further? Add motion graphics, sync with music, or stack multiple slideshows. Sky’s the limit.
