ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jason “Phatz” Kirkman has been deeply engulfed in Hip-Hop culture since 1982. He's been a passionate practitioner of 3 out of the 5 elements of Hip-Hop for over 25 years (Knowledge Of Self/Bboy/Emcee). Phatz was B-Boying from a young age and an Emcee since the early 90's... But "Knowledge Of Self" was always the secret ingredient that kept his fire for Hip Hop Culture burning brightly throughout the years.
Over time, as Phatz matured, so too did his desire to deepen his cultural over-standing. This led him on an in-depth historical quest to uncover what is at the very core of Hip Hop's spirit...Beyond the elements. Eventually this journey would prompt Phatz to author his first book entitled: "OFFSTAGE: The Culture Of Hip Hop Before The Elements".
